Those who know me well, usually know that I NEVER post anything even remotely personal about myself, as there are so many LJ reading whores out there that love sucking up information for their own personal use.

However, I really don't give a flying rats arse about who sees this information, as I am absolutley OVER THE MOON!!! to announce, we are expecting a beautiful baby GIRL in April 2007! Stick that in yer pipe and smoke it!

I find myself sitting here thinking about this endless debate that surrounds Boxers having their Tails or having them surgically removed when they are pups.

This subject arose this morning when our family took our beloved Kira-Lea for a walk today around our local lake. Kira-Lea is a purebred Boxer, and still has her tail in-tact. For some reason, I find myself being faced with a few morons here and there, who will actually come up to me and tell me that my dog should not have her tail! (You wouldn't believe it, but it does happen!)

One such example occurred this morning whilst out walking. I was standing watching my son play int he playground and had Kira-lea on her lead. Then this moron guy walks up to me and says "Is that a Boxer cross?" And I said "No - she is predbred thank you". He then asks me "If she's purebred why has she still got her tail on?" And I just looked at him and thought, Is this guy for real? Does he actually have any brain what soever in his head? I told him that she still has her tail on because it is Illegal in Australia to have a tail docked from a dog who does not have any medical reasons as to why it should lose its tail. After I told him this he continued to tell me that my dog, and infact all boxers look better without a tail, and that she shouldn't have a tail.

I almost told him that he would look better with no head! How dare he stand there and tell me that my dog should not have her tail! He also proceeded to tell me that it didn't hurt them! Well shit, how did he know it didn't hurt them? Did he have his arm removed just for the look? Maybe he should have his head removed!

Kira-Lea has her tail for a reason. She was born with it, and after she was born there was a law in which said that she is to keep her tail. I don't have a problem with that at all.



In saying this, I do not have a problem with those dogs who do not have their tails. The law varies from Country to Country, and how they run and organise their animal welfare is up to them. But I agree with Australian Law which states that all breeds who have previously had their tails docked as part of the "Look" & "Tradition" for the them is now Illegal. I agree with tail docking for medical reasons only here in Australia, which for a number of reasons might be the tail might have an abcess or badly broken or for a number of other reasons.

I have even asked the Australian Animal Protection Society in Keysborough - Melbourne, about the tail docking procedure & its legality here in Australia. They told me point blank, It is Illegal here in Australia, and in no way do they condone it. They were very pleased to see she still had her tail!

While there are other morons who come up with me and have a problem with her tail, there are others who dont have a problem with it. Whilst out walking this morning also, a lovely woman came up to us and just had to pat Kira-Lea. She loves boxers, and apparently had two of her own, that didn't have their tails, but she told me she was glad to see Kira-Lea still had her tail. She said her Boxers were alot older than Kira-Lea and had got their tails docked because it was the in thing back then.

I guess there are alot of divided opinions on the issue out there, but in my opinion - and I'm entitled to have one, I believe that any breed of dog should keep its tail unless it is absolutely neccessary that it be removed.

Hi all!..

Here is my effort of the last couple of hours. I am really quite pleased with this page. Much better than the previous one I have added to LJ. I went and got myself some much needed nice papers today and it makes the task ahead much easier.
